Every SA website must promote the government portal on COVID-19.

New website rules for South Africa during the coronavirus outbreak.

Dated 26 March 2020, in a government gazette [View PDF] the Department of Communications detailed interventions around the “dissemination of information” in the country.

Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has approved new requirements for South African ISPs and website owners as part of the government’s plan to fight the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Every website in South Africa with a domain name that ends in .za – like: .co.za / .org.za .ac.za.  All company websites, government portals, private blogs, travel blogs and every academic institution in .ac must now have a visible link to the government’s main COVID-19 page on its front/landing page.

As this regulation will catch many .ZA website owners off guard you might need technical assistance in this regard.

This service is FREE all websites hosted and developed by us. Alternatively, this once-off service – upload, manage and remove the link – are provided at a low rate of R300. T&Cs Apply.
